The Benefits of Winter Tires

Now that the colder weather has arrived, it's time to put those summer tires away. We're here to help, whether you just need your all-season or winter tires put back on your vehicle or you need a new set. Having the right set of tires will maximize the performance and fuel economy of your vehicle, and more importantly, ensure your safety.

Tire technology advances in tread compound and tread design have improved driving performance across the entire spectrum of tires, but especially with respect to winter tires. All tire rubber will begin to stiffen as the weather gets colder, but the latest generations of winter tires maintain their elasticity even at extremely low temperatures approaching -30°C and below, thus providing superior traction and grip.
Instead of thinking of winter tires only as "snow tires" you may want to start thinking of them as "cold-weather tires".

Winter tires handle winter driving conditions so well because they provide the best possible contact between your vehicle and the road. Whether the road surface is snowy or icy, wet or dry, winter tires offer optimal traction in all cold-weather conditions.
Between October 1 and April 30, proper winter tires are mandatory on most British Columbia Provincial Highways. Failure to meet these requirements can result in a driving fine. M+S tires with 3.5 mm tread are the minimum requirement. Please review the maps below and plan accordingly before your next road trip.
